Mountain Area Preservation (MAP), founded in 1987 by local citizens who wanted to protect open space and advocate for responsible development in the Truckee-Tahoe area. MAP is dedicated to preserving the Truckee-Tahoe region’s mountain character and natural environment for present and future generations.
Each year, MAP awards a scholarship to a graduating high school senior from the North Tahoe-Truckee area who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university. Eligible students must be pursuing a degree in environmental science or a related field, with a focus on areas such as natural resource management, environmental planning, law or policy, and sustainability.
Requirements: Applicants must have demonstrated environmental leadership and complete an additional essay.
