From 1999 to 2015, Kevin Murnane served as manager and director of Tahoe XC and was a truly good citizen and friend. The Kevin Murnane Student Scholarship is for students who demonstrate the selflessness, decency, and good nature that Kevin embodied. Students who participated in Nordic ski programs at Tahoe XC, Auburn Ski Club, Far West, North Tahoe Middle and High Schools, understand the value of Nordic skiing as a lifelong sport, and demonstrate the qualities Kevin upheld within our community, embody the qualities this scholarship seeks. Although it isn’t required that applicants ski competitively in college, we are proud of how many Tahoe Cross-Country skiers go on to compete at national and international levels, and how many return to Tahoe XC. Two scholarships are awarded annually to graduating North Tahoe High School student-athletes.
Requirements: Student-athlete who participated in a Nordic ski program and demonstrates the good character Kevin Munane upheld. Supplemental essay questions. An additional letter of recommendation optional.
Amount: Up to two scholarships totaling $5,000
