Donner Lodge #162 I.O.O.F. recognizes the importance of a good education as the foundation for a successful life. Throughout the state of California, Odd Fellows have been active in supporting our public schools. It is the Odd Fellows’ belief that High School students who have demonstrated a willingness to work hard should be encouraged to pursue further education. Financial help is one way of demonstrating our Odd Fellow pledge to help those who are deserving.
This scholarship offers three, one-time, merit-based awards of $2,500 to two students from Truckee High School and one student from North Tahoe High School to help defray the costs of applicants’ first year of school at a fully accredited college or vocational school of the applicant’s choice. This scholarship is open to all qualifying students regardless of race, creed, gender, or national origin. Preference may be given to children or grandchildren of Odd Fellow members.
Requirements: 2.5 minimum GPA. Two letters of recommendation, one from a school source (teacher, counselor, etc.) and the other should be from a community source (minister, employer, etc.). The letters cannot be from a family member. Finalists will be interviewed.
Amount: $2,500
