On October 13, Nevada County hosted an inaugural Sustainability Summit to convene regional agencies and organizations who are working to mitigate the effects of climate change. The sentiment throughout the summit was hopeful and can be summed up by Jessica Morse stressing that
This crisis is solvable.
Another theme was the importance of collaboration and private and public partners working together to have the greatest impact for generations to come. Supervisor Hall emphasized that this is an unprecedented challenge that needs unprecedented collaboration- there is no time for egos or missions fighting each other.
TTCF CEO, Stacy Caldwell, was invited to speak on the intersection of philanthropy and this critical work. She highlighted that philanthropy demonstrates kindness and mutual responsibility, but money alone will not solve any crisis. Community readiness, which has been a key pillar of the Forest Futures campaign, ensures that philanthropy is effective.
We are looking forward to strengthening these regional partnerships to ensure a healthy environment and vibrant community.
