Bobby Bear
Bobby has spent much of his life living in the Tahoe National Forest. He is originally from Lakeport, CA where he was carved by his maker Mark Colp, a nationally renown wood carver. Bobby made his way to Tahoe and spent much of his life in a comfortable den at the base of Northstar. After the catastrophic wildfires season 2021, Bobby reached out to TTCF to see how he could be more helpful in protecting our community. Bobby officially joined the team in 2022 summer intern to help educate our community around sustainable forest management and wildfire preparedness.

Where can I sign-up to get notifications if an evacuation is ordered?
The alert systems used will vary by county, so you will need to check with your county to sign-up for the appropriate system. In addition to notifications on evacuation orders, alerts will include other important community notifications such as red flag warnings, charcoal/fire bans and missing persons and road closures. These alerts are in both English and Spanish via phone, email or text. All community members need to opt-in to receive notifications, it is not automatic. If you border two counties, it is recommended to sign-up for both alerts.
Nevada County
Nevada County and the Town of Truckee use CodeRED. Register for CodeRed online here, by calling 211 or 1-833-DIAL211 or by texting ReadyNevadaCounty to 99411. Evacuation warnings and orders will be issued for specific zones- Know your Zone.
Placer County
The Placer County Alert system is powered by Everbridge, you can sign-up online here or call 211.
El Dorado County
The El Dorado County Alert system is powered by RAVE Mobile Safety, you can sign-up online here.
What should I pack in my go-bag?
What are evacuation tags and where can I find them?
Evacuation tags can be placed on a bear box or door to let law enforcement know you have evacuated and they do not need to go inside to help. This can save precious time in the event of a wildfire. Evacuation tags can be picked up at your local fire station or ACE hardware.
Do you know the six P's?
Keep These Six “P’s” Ready In Case Immediate Evacuation Is Required:
- People and pets
- Papers, phone numbers, and important documents
- Prescriptions, vitamins, and eyeglasses
- Pictures and irreplaceable memorabilia
- Personal computer hard drive and disks
- “Plastic” (credit cards, ATM cards) and cash
