Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee (CCTT) releases a comprehensive report card for North Tahoe-Truckee’s community health

For Immediate Release, June 27, 2019- Truckee, CA: For over twenty years, the Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee (CCTT) has strengthened the lives of individuals and families in North Tahoe-Truckee. Spring 2019, they released a comprehensive Issue Brief that tells the story of how our region is performing in specific community health indicators.

Many people associate North Tahoe-Truckee with paradise, a perception that disguises underlying challenges affecting the individuals and families that live and work here. Isolated in the mountains with much fewer full-time residents than our urban counterparts, our region has less access to financial resources and basic needs services like healthcare and public transportation. Meanwhile, our economic and housing markets are greatly influenced by nearby metropolitan areas Reno, Sacramento, and the San Francisco Bay Area, resulting in a high cost of living and a housing shortage.

CCTT’s partners identify and address the needs of community members through a “story and data-driven” approach. CCTT measures and tracks over 25 community health indicators including things like education, substance abuse, and depression rates. This process helps local organizations develop and adapt responsive programs and networks. All indicators are available online and several have been published as issue briefs for educational and fundraising purposes; this is the first time that a single publication has painted a broad, comprehensive picture.

“Our community is doing well in many areas, but several issues undermine the health and well-being of all residents. Income levels and access to resources directly and negatively impact a person’s health and how well a child will do in school. We’re excited to share our 2019 Issue Brief with the broader community, and are hopeful it will compel people to action,” said Alison Schwedner, CCTT Director.
